What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medical Care is a primary care approach to treating individuals who have chronic and acute medical concerns, issues and illnesses. Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) view the person as a whole system, thereby taking into consideration the patient's chief concern, medical history, lifestyle factors and a review of their systems, versus just the individual symptoms alone. As they work with the 'whole picture' they are able to then source the root cause of a concern, treat this aspect, and subsequently eliminate the problem as well as its symptoms.
The medicine is based on the 6 principles of healing, and is effective in treating all parts of one's health - the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.
Modalities of Treatment
All Naturopathic medical treatment modalities aim to support the body's natural healing response. This involves homeopathy, botanical medicine, lifestyle counselling, clinical nutrition, physical medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine/acupuncture.
